Fourth International Conference on Learning and Teaching in Computing and Engineering
Mumbai, India, March 31st - April 3rd, 2016

iSAT Workshop

When: Sunday, 3rd April @ 2:30 PM
Where: Seminar Room 04, VMCC, IIT Bombay

Analytics of teaching-learning scenarios often involves collecting multi-attribute student data and then exploring patterns and relations in the dataset to understand the learning experience and identify possibilities to improve it. This workshop focuses on introducing quantitative data visualizing by interactive Stratified Attribute Tracking (SAT) diagram . The SAT diagram groups data in each attribute based on user-specified criteria and visualizes proportions of each group. Further it traces how these groups of data transition between one attribute and another related attribute, where the relation is defined based on the specific teaching-learning scenario. Such patterns are not available by analyzing multiple independent histograms. The interactive workshop has activities which enables participants to evaluate whether their collected quantitative data can be transformed and visualized for transition patterns.
