Teacher Training Programs

We regularly conduct face-to-face capacity building workshops as well as Continuing Education Programme (CEP) for Engineering and Science teachers. These trainings are theory-informed and evidence-based.

Our faculty, alumni, and research scholars function as resource persons for the following types of workshops:

1. Introductory program on pedagogy for effective student-centered teaching-learning with technology

The 2-day program aims to introduce college teachers to the pedagogy of learner-centered teaching-learning practices (active learning) with technology tools that they commonly use as a teaching resource like videos, animations and simulations.
It includes:

  • what, why and how of learning objectives
  • why active learning is needed
  • what constitutes active learning
  • how to do effective learner-centered integration of technology in teaching (includes introduction to example active learning techniques)
  • hands-on sessions where teachers are guided to apply the techniques to design active learning activities with technology and implement them effectively in flipped classroom mode as well as in in-class teaching mode.

2. Pedagogy for effective integration of ICT tools in engineering education

The 2-day program builds on the introductory program mentioned above and goes deeper into the pedagogy for effective teaching-learning with technology. A prerequisite for the program is that participants should be able to write valid learning objectives at different cognitive levels and should be aware of the principles of active learning. The program includes:

  • why and what of the effective triangle of teaching-learning
  • types of learning objectives possible with a commonly used technology tool like videos, animations & simulations
  • how to achieve the alignment between objective and instructional strategy for teaching in flipped class mode
  • how to achieve the alignment between objective and instructional strategy while teaching with technology in-class
