CuVIS (Customized Visualization Integration System) is a wizard-like tool that will guide instructors through a set of interactive steps to create a customized, learner-centered lesson plan for teaching with visualizations such as videos, animations or simulations. CuVIS assumes a resource-constrained instructional context where only the instructor has direct access to the visualization. Students do not have access to a personalized device and can interact with the visualization through the instructor, such as in digital classrooms. CuVIS introduces two active learning strategies - Peer Instruction & Think-Pair-Share. Each strategy has its own specific protocol. CuVIS will guide the instructor to choose an appropriate strategy depending on the objective and activity duration requirements. CuVIS follows a pedagogical pattern of : a) Play visualization - pause-do an activity - resume visualization Or, b) Do an activity - play-pause visualization to verify activity solution.
